CadenceTerms of use
Last updated 15 September 2026. "Cadence", "the app" and "we" mean Cadence Video Player and its developer; "you" means the person using the app or this website.
The short version. You buy the app once on the App Store and may use it on the devices your Apple ID allows, under Apple's standard licence. It plays your own files; you are responsible for having the right to play them. It comes as it is, we do our best to keep it working, and if something goes wrong our liability is limited to what you paid for it. This website is provided free and as-is.
1. The licence
Cadence is distributed through Apple's App Store and licensed, not sold, to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), which applies in full. These terms add to it; where they conflict, the Standard EULA prevails for anything to do with the App Store.
Under that licence you may install and use the app on the Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store's rules allow, for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile or redistribute the app except where the law expressly permits it, or where the open-source licences of the libraries it contains grant you rights over those libraries (see Licences).
2. Purchases and refunds
The app is a one-time purchase at the price shown on the App Store in your country. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases or advertising. Apple handles the transaction; we never see your payment details. Refunds are governed by Apple's App Store terms and requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
3. Your content
Cadence plays video and audio files that you point it at, on your device or on network shares you configure. It does not supply any content. You are responsible for the files you play and for having the right to play them, and for the security of the shares and credentials you enter. The app does not circumvent copy protection and will not play protected content.
4. iCloud and your data
If you leave iCloud sync switched on, the app stores its data in your own iCloud account under Apple's iCloud terms. We do not operate any server and hold no data of yours. Our privacy policy describes exactly what the app stores and where.
5. Updates and changes
We may release updates through the App Store that add, change or remove features. Updates are included in the purchase. We may stop supporting older system versions when Apple does, or when supporting them would hold the app back; the requirements are stated on the App Store page.
6. Open-source software
The app includes open-source libraries — FFmpeg under the LGPL 2.1 or later, and others listed on the Licences page — used under their own licences, which are not affected by these terms. Where a library's licence gives you rights that these terms would restrict, the library's licence wins for that library.
7. No warranty
The app and this website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that the app will be free of errors, that every file will play, or that it will meet your requirements. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, including any statutory guarantees that cannot be excluded.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the app or this website, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
9. This website
The text, design and images of cadencevideoplayer.com are ours unless otherwise stated and may not be reproduced without permission, except for fair quotation. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content. The site sets no cookies and collects no data; see the privacy policy.
10. Trademarks
Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, iCloud, App Store and VideoToolbox are trademarks of Apple Inc. Plex and Jellyfin are trademarks of their respective owners. Cadence Video Player is an independent product, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. Apple is not a party to these terms, is not responsible for the app, and has no obligation to provide support for it, except as the Standard EULA states.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts — without affecting your right, as a consumer, to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and without affecting Apple's terms for the App Store in your country.
12. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will be published here with a new date at the top. Continued use of the app after a change is acceptance of the new terms; the Standard EULA is unaffected.
