CadencePrivacy policy
Last updated 15 September 2026. This policy covers the Cadence Video Player app for macOS, iOS, iPadOS and tvOS, and this website.
The short version. Cadence collects no personal data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of its own. The only data that leaves your device is your own — your shares, what you have watched, your settings — and it goes only to your own iCloud account, only if you leave iCloud sync switched on, and never to us. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.
1. What the app stores, and where
To do its job, Cadence keeps a small amount of information on your device:

None of this is sent to us. Deleting a share in the app deletes its password from the keychain. Deleting the app removes its settings and bookmarks from the device; as with any app, the system may keep keychain entries after the app is gone, so delete shares in the app first if you want the passwords gone too.
2. iCloud sync
If iCloud sync is switched on (it is on by default, and there is a switch in Settings), the shares, pinned folders, recents, watched database and settings above are also written to your own iCloud account, using Apple's key-value store, so that your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID can read them. Share passwords are carried by iCloud Keychain, which is encrypted end to end so that not even Apple can read them.
This data is stored by Apple, under Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud terms. It is not stored by us, and we have no access to it. Switching sync off stops the device sending and receiving; what is already on your other devices stays there until you delete it on those devices.
3. Network access
Cadence connects to the network only to reach the shares you add, on your own network, using the SMB protocol, and to Apple's iCloud service as above. It does not connect to any server of ours — there are none — and it does not connect to any advertising, analytics or tracking service. It does not look up film titles, fetch artwork, or send file names anywhere.
4. Crash reports and analytics
Cadence contains no analytics or crash-reporting code of its own. If your device is set to share analytics with Apple and app developers (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may pass us anonymised crash reports through App Store Connect. These contain technical information about the crash and no personal information; we use them only to fix the crash.
5. Purchases
Cadence is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds the purchase record under your Apple ID. We receive aggregated sales figures from Apple and no personal or payment details about any purchaser.
6. Children
The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children. It plays the files it is pointed at and has no content service of its own.
7. This website
cadencevideoplayer.com is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, fonts or images, and contains no forms. Like any website, the server that hosts it may keep ordinary access logs (the address a request came from, the page requested, the time) for the purpose of running the server; these are not used to identify visitors and are not shared.
If you email us, we receive what you send, and we keep the correspondence for as long as is needed to deal with it.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about users of the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf: everything the app stores is on your device and in your own iCloud account, under your control. For an email exchange with us, you may ask us at any time to delete it. If you are in the UK or the EU you have the rights set out in the UK GDPR and the GDPR, including the right to complain to your supervisory authority.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date at the top. It will not change in the direction of collecting more without a clear statement of what and why.
